Liberalism, free-thinking, open-mindedness: The New Era’s Excuse To Accept Things We Shouldn’t?

“I’m waking up..I feel it in my bones, enough to make my system blow..welcome to the new age…. ” – Imagine Dragons(Radioactive)

thinking_manI wonder if our definition of being open-minded has become distorted over time. I wonder this because it seems most of us confuse compliance for being open-minded. Could claiming ‘open-minded’ be a new excuse to tolerate the issues that we don’t have the power to change? Things that we fear if we dare try to oppose may lead to an admonishment by the larger societal family that are accepting of these issues. Must we always tolerate things that add no values to the society; isn’t this synonymous to passivity? Must our acceptance of a matter, a thing or an issue be based on the majority who support the matter, thing, issue or the government’s acceptance of it? If being open-minded is not necessarily the same as accepting a matter, issue or thing, then what IS open-mindedness?

Because it would seem, that the new definition of liberalism has become tolerating the mundane and jejune..
